I've been meaning to blog about this for ages - and it's the stage adaptation of Point Break, starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze - I haven't ever seen the movie, nor the play, which is probably why I haven't got around to posting this. But the premise is WAY too perfect.
Basically, an actor is pulled out of the audience who is interested in playing the lead role of "Keanu". The actor is unrehearsed and it is believed that with a little prompting and some cue cards, that a walk-on from the audience can sufficiently perform the job that Keanue Reeves does.
How it works:
At the start of the show, audience members who wish to play Johnny Utah are called on stage and put through a quick faux-audition. The winner is then selected by audience Applause-o-meter. A Cue Card assistant (cast member) leads Utah around the stage throughout the play and shows him/her the lines on laminated cards. The play is an over-the-top, action-packed comedy in a punk-theater setting.

The concept is brilliant - the execution ... it's no worse than what Keanu did with the role, to be honest. Kudos, this makes me laugh.
