Not in Kansas Anymore, Act II, sc. iii B

Here's a bonus panel to help segue between Act II, sc. iii and Act II, sc. iv. I felt like there was just too much unsaid between those pages, and this is SUPPOSED to help out.

PLUS I got to show a bit of the Emerald Pity Pawn Shop sign which I designed, but wasn't able to use in the story line. Here you just get a hint of it, but you can imagine what the whole thing looks like. Beware the Flying Sombreros!

The beauty of this is, the next page is already up! Go check it out, too!

Not in Kansas Anymore, Act II, sc. iii

Betcha didn't see THIS coming!

I know it's supposed to be a million monkeys on a million typewriters that write a masterpiece, but ... I just didn't have time for She-Mullet to review that many manuscripts and keep the pace of this joke going.

Not in Kansas Anymore, Act I, sc. v

Bands that SKIP together, STAY together.

One more Wizard of Oz homage, ripping off the fairly iconic image of the gang skipping along the yellow-brick road. PLUS, It's not often we get a fairly comprehensive view of the street, so there's some decent perspective here in this scene.

This wraps up Act I, with the plot in full swing -- what do you think happens next? I feel like most stories that try and do a parody of a specific film (like Star Wars) are a little TOO faithful from scene to scene, and they just try tobe sarcastic in each scene. In this, I'm aiming to instead just have jokes related to the Wizard of Oz, but I'm not hellbent on copying the literal story narrative. So expect more Wizard jokes, but don't expect them to follow the story very faithfully -- that's just not as funny!

My brother made an excellent point, though, that the beginning few scenes should have been in black and white, and that's a great idea! I wish I'd thought of that!

For the record, the streets were stained yellow before the monkeys escaped their cages, so that's no excuse .. I'm lookin at YOU Beardo, ya freakin BUM.

More Wizard of Oz gags, did you notice them?

First, the obvious reference to following the yellow-brick road. And what lays at the end of the yellow-brick road? ... anyone? EMERALD CITY. Right. Which also has a humorous allegory here on King St. The Emerald Pity Pawn Shop (which we visited in the last episode From Busk Till Pawn).

Do you like having the monkeys running around? Is that hilarious? I hope so, because it's sure an added inconvenience when I'm drawing these damned things.

Enjoy!
