I met Derek McGrath

So ... some people don't watch Lost and feel left out when the only thing I write about is the show. That's fair - so here's something I've been meaning to write about for a while. See if you remember who Derek McGrath is. I was first introduced to Mr. McGrath back when he was on a show called My Secret Identity way back in 1990.

Derek McGrath was in Peterborough (and apparently grew up nearby) filming an episode of some show for Cogeco while promoting his new record. He has a couple of acoustic tunes that he wrote over his years. He's a charismatic, charming, funny fella who knew how to tell a story and make an interview interesting. A performer on all levels - and that was good. Sometimes you'll have a guest on tv that's a bit awkward or difficult to get good material out of.

Not McGrath though - he was "on" and eager to play some tunes, tell some stories (many involving Billy Ray Cyrus) and sharing his thoughts on Hollywood, L.A., the bizz and stuff like that.

It was a pretty neat time. I have no idea when this episode will go to air - but it was fun being there.

For the record, I was volunteering a bit with Cogeco operating one of their cameras, which was fun. We were scheduled to film a few episodes that day - though I think we only filmed two - and I'd done a couple versions of a kids Christmas pageant as well. So - that was a neat time. I think you could buy his record if you searched for it, though I'd be surprised if any readers of mine were into that sort of thing.

So - is this a show people even remember? Or is it just me? I thought it was cool.
